The Pistons and Celtics squared off in the first game of
the season for the grades 5&6 basketball league. The Pistons picked up the 26-20
win behind a game high 10 points from Gavin Kelley. Bradley Kinney chipped in
with six points and numerous rebounds, while teammate Grant Bridges knocked down
four points. The trio of David Kofstad, Josiah Morse, and Victoria Williamson
each netted two points. Grant Stewart scored seven points, all in the second
half, to lead the Celtics. Parker Lambert and Tristen Woodworth added five and
four points, respectively. Cole Staples added two points for the Celtics, as did
Frank Dawson.
Hannah Chalou’s three point play helped spark an 11-1 third
quarter run as the Spurs downed the Clippers, 29-24. Jake Kinney lit up the
scoreboard for 14 points to lead five Spurs in the scoring column. Grant
Hemphill, Jacob O’Berry, and Pat Cash contributed four points apiece for the
Spurs, and Chalou’s three points rounded out the attack. Connor Murchison
torched the nets for 10 points to pace the Clippers. Issac Deine almost matched
Murchison’s output, finishing with nine points. Marcus Ouellette and Khasen Lowe
popped in two points apiece, and Brandon McLean brought the total to 24 with one
point.
Jacob O’Berry scored the eventual game winning basket with
less than five seconds to play as the Spurs outlasted the Celtics, 22-21. Cole
Staples had put the Celtics up after nailing a jumper from the baseline with 25
seconds to go, but Jake Kinney pushed the ball down the floor for the Spurs.
After a few attempts at the Spurs’ basket, the rebound landed in O’Berry’s
hands. His initial shot was blocked by Staples, but O’Berry got the loose ball
and arced the ball just over Staples’s outstretched hands. Kinney sparked the
Spurs comeback, scoring six of his game high 12 points in the pivotal fourth
quarter. O’Berry and Grant Hemphill finished with four points each, and teammate
Pat Cash added two points. The Celtics were led by 10 points from Parker
Lambert. Tristen Woodworth netted six points and Staples contributed five
points.
The Pistons put five players in the scoring column en route
to picking up the 31-20 win over the Clippers. Josiah Morse was the high man for
the Pistons with nine points, followed closely by eight points from Bradley
Kinney. Gavin Kelley contributed six points, and the duo of Grant Bridges and
Victoria Williamson finished with four points apiece. Connor Murchison headed up
a balanced attack by the Clippers with eight points. Khasen Lowe chipped in with
four points, while Brandon McLean netted three points. Issac Devine and Kyle
Morris each knocked down a basket for two points and Marcus Ouellette rounded
out the attack with one point.
The Spurs outscored the Pistons 6-2 in the fourth quarter to
complete a 20-16 come from behind win. Jake Kinney finished with eight points as
the high man for the Spurs. Pat Cash and Kyle Morris provided four points each.
Hannah Chalou and Jacob O’Berry nailed a basket each for two points. Bradley
Kinney of the Pistons matched younger cousin Jake’s scoring total with eight
points. Gavin Kelley tallied four points, including two free throws that touched
nothing but the bottom of the net. Josiah Morse and Nick Bartlett also cracked
the scoring column with two points apiece.
Marcus Ouellette and Khasen Lowe each finished with six
points to help the Clippers outlast the Celtics in a thrilling 18-17 game. Issac
Devine added four second half points, and Connor Murchison ended with two
points. Grant Stewart paced the Celtics with eight points. Parker Lambert added
five points, all coming in the thrilling fourth quarter. Teammates Cole Staples
and Tristen Woodworth added two points apiece.
The Spurs had no answer for the Clippers’ Connor Murchison,
who burned the nets for a season high 19 points as the Clippers picked up the
30-9 victory. Issac Devine and Khasen Lowe netted four points each, and Marcus
Ouellette rounded out the scoring with three points. Pat Cash led the Spurs with
five points and Grant Hemphill contributed the other four.
Josiah Morse scored four of his team high six points in a
thrilling fourth quarter to help the Pistons hold on for the 18-14 win over the
Celtics. Bradley Kinney chipped in with four points and Gavin Kelley added three
points. The duo of Amy Seeley and Grant Bridges each popped in two points, while
Nick Bartlett brought the total to 18 with one point. The Celtics were led by
six points from Parker Lambert. Grant Stewart poured in four points, and
teammates Skyler McAtee and Tristen Woodworth finished with two points each.
The Clippers kept rolling behind another double digit scoring
performance from Connor Murchison, who finished with 12 points, as they downed
the Pistons 28-17. Marcus Ouellette chipped in with eight points, and Brandon
McLean did a great job on the offensive boards en route to scoring six points.
Issac Devine added two points. Bradley Kinney paced the Pistons with eight
points, and Gavin Kelley knocked down five points. Grant Bridges and Nick
Bartlett each finished with two points.
The Celtics outscored the Spurs 8-2 in the fourth quarter to
pick up the 23-20 victory. Parker Lambert led a balanced Celtics attack with
eight points, closely followed by six from Grant Stewart. Tristen Woodworth and
Skyler McAtee added four and three points, respectively. Emma Curtis rounded out
the attack with two points. Jake Kinney kept the game close by lighting up the
scoreboard for a game high 16 points. Teammates Grant Hemphill and Pat Cash
contributed two points apiece.
The Clippers held a 10-2 scoring advantage in the third quarter to erase a halftime deficit against the Pistons. The Pistons made a great comeback attempt in the fourth quarter to come up just short, as the Clippers held on for the thrilling 19-18 victory. Connor Murchison was the high scorer for the Clippers, tallying eight points. Marcus Ouellette chipped in with five points, all coming in the critical second half. Issac Devine netted four points, and teammate Khasen Lowe finished with two points. Bradley Kinney led five Pistons in scoring with six points. Gavin Kelley and Nick Bartlett popped in four points apiece. David Kofstad and Steven Kinney each contributed two points.
Regulation wasn’t enough to determine the winner between the Celtics and Spurs. The Celtics scored first in overtime, then clamped down defensively to hold on for the 26-25 victory. Parker Lambert scorched the nets for a game high 13 points to lead the Celtics. Grant Stewart netted 11 points, including the eventual game winning basket in overtime. Frank Dawson rounded out the attack with two points. Pat Cash paced a balanced Spurs attack with 10 points. Grant Hemphill finished with six points, and teammate Jake Kinney popped in five points. Jacob O’Berry and Kyle Morris knocked down two points apiece for the Spurs.
The Pistons bounced back with a strong defensive effort to knock off the Spurs, 15-11. Josiah Morse poured in a game high seven points to lead the Pistons. Grant Bridges nailed two jumpers for four points, and Bradley Kinney and David Kofstad each hit baskets in the fourth quarter to finish with two points. Pat Cash once again led the Spurs, this time with four points. Kyle Morris chipped in with three points. Jacob O’Berry and Grant Hemphill ended with two points apiece.
Skyler McAtee sparked the Celtics offense with a season high six points as the Celtics upset the Clippers, 23-14. Grant Stewart led the Celtics with a game high 10 points, and Parker Lambert added seven points. Khasen Lowe finished with six points to lead the Clippers. Marcus Ouellette netted four points, and the duo of Connor Murchison and Brandon McLean contributed two points each.
