FACILITIES & PARKS ARNOLD BROOK LAKE Arnold Brook Lake is located three miles from downtown Presque Isle on the Spragueville Road. Created in 1979, this 400-acre lake and park offers picnic facilities, a boat launch and nature trails. The park is open from 9:00 a.m. to dusk daily, May through September. BIKE PATH Created in 1981, the Bike Path, which follows the old C.P. Railroad track bed, is a 4 mile paved path that runs from North Main Street to Riverside Drive. The path is used year round by young and old for biking, walking and jogging. BISHOP'S ISLAND BALL FIELD Located next to Riverside Park, Bishop's Island is an athletic field utilized by our girls' softball leagues. DOUBLE EAGLE II PARK Commemorating the flight of the Double Eagle II (first Trans-Atlantic balloon flight, August 17, 1978) this park is located on the Spragueville Road just beyond the Echo Lake turnoff. The park was built through the efforts of the Spragueville Extension and the Merle Sprague family. INDOOR POOL MANTLE LAKE PARK Mantle Lake Park is a multi-use park located at the end of Pine St. Constructed in 1952, the park has tennis courts, playground equipment, a large play area, small picnic shelters, plus a large group shelter that can be reserved by calling the recreation office. MILTON GRANT MEMORIAL POOL & PLAYGROUND Built in 1941, this area has provided a baseball/softball field, outdoor swimming pool, and a playground area and basketball court for over 60 years. The Milton Grant Memorial Pool & Playground is located on South Main Street. The outdoor pool offers lessons and general swim from mid-June until early August. General swim hours are as follows: Monday through Friday 2:00 - 4:45 p.m. and 6:00 - 7:45 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 - 4:45 p.m. The outdoor pool will be closed July 3rd, 18th & August 1st for cleaning, with no lessons or general swim being held on those days. PEACE PARK Peace Park, dedicated in 1983, consists of playground equipment and a basketball court, along with trees that are planted by the local Peace Group. Peace Park is located on Parsons Street. RIVERSIDE PARK / BI-CENTENNIAL PARK This picturesque little park was constructed in 1980 with the combined efforts of the City, Kiwanis Club, Soil Conservation Service and the Bi-Centennial Committee. Riverside has a boat ramp, picnic area and playground and is located along the Presque Isle Stream within walking distance to downtown. The park also encompasses a multi-purpose field and building, which is available for rent for service clubs and birthday parties, etc. Contact the community center for more information. TENNIS COURTS Tennis Courts are located at Mantle Lake Park (3), as well as lighted courts at U.M.P.I. (6) and N.M.C.C. (3) campuses. VETERAN'S PARK This park, which was constructed in collaboration by the City of Presque Isle, V.F.W., and the American Legion, was built to honor those local veterans who served in time of need. The Park is located on North Main Street. WILLIAM V. HASKELL COMMUNITY CENTER Constructed in 1944, the William V. Haskell Community Center is a 7,200 square foot building located at 270 Main Street. The Center has a small gym, a combination lounge, TV and game room, along with the department offices. The center is used for various adult and youth activities. |
