Father/Daughter Dance

The Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department's annual Father/Daughter Valentine's Dance is schedule for February 12th from 7-9 PM at the William V. Haskell Community Center.

            The event is open to girls' grades K-6 and their fathers.  Advance tickets are on sale now.  The cost is $7 per couple.

ZUMBA

     The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will be offering an eight week Zumba program starting February 23rd. Classes will meet each Tuesday and Thursday from February 23 through April 15 from 5:45-6:45 pm. The cost to attend all 16 classes is $65 while an 8 class card is $40 as we realize some people may only be able to attend once a week. There will be a free demonstration on Tuesday, February 16th, from 5:45-6:45 for those who would like to try before committing. For more information call 764-2545 or email adampirec@maine.rr.com.

 

 Grades 1&2 Little Wildcat Basketball

            The Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department has begun registration for its Little Wildcat basketball program at the William V. Haskell Community Center.  Schedules will be ready on Wednesday, February 10th.

            The program is offered to boys and girls in first and second grades and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays after school at the community center.

            The registration fee is $18.  The program begins the week of February 22nd.

Mini Hoopsters

            The Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department has begun registration for a new program, Mini Hoopsters, at the William V. Haskell Community Center. Schedules will be ready on Wednesday, February 10th.

This is an introductory basketball program for children in pre K and kindergarten. Games will be held on Thursdays after school at the community center.

The registration fee is $18. The program begins the week of February 22nd.

Arts Program

            The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will begin registration January 19th for Presque Isle residents for its after school art program starting in March. Non residents may register starting January 27th. The second session’s themes are Winter Weavers and Wild Things. Grades 1-3 will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while grades 4-6 will meet on Wednesdays and Fridays, with all sessions running from 3:00-5:30 pm. The cost of the program is $60 for Presque Isle residents with an additional fee for non residents. There will also be a Mini Monets program for children ages 2-5 and their parents. The cost is $25 for Presque Isle residents and will be held on Friday mornings from 10-11 am. Please contact the center at 764-2545 with any questions.

Birthday Parties at the Pool and Recreation Center

            The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is now hosting birthday parties for ages 4 and up at the Recreation Center in addition to hosting parties at the Indoor Pool.  The Recreation Center is available Friday and Saturday nights from 6:00-8:00 pm, with one hour of organized gym games included in the rental.  Activities vary with age groups.  For more information on rentals for the Recreation Center please call 764-2545 or the Indoor Pool at 764-2564.

Youth Open Gym

The Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department will begin its hours for youth open gym beginning Saturday, November 14th.  Hours will be from 1-3 PM for elementary youth and from 3-5 PM for middle & high school students.  These hours will be offered regularly each Saturday and Sunday.  Available will be a pool table, table tennis, bumper pool, foosball, board games, a lounge with TV and a gymnasium for basketball and other activities.

Adult and evening programs

            The Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department will continue to hold men’s basketball will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9 PM.  Coed volleyball and coed dodgeball have been cancelled due to lack of participation.  Archery for all ages is on Sundays from 6:00-8:30 PM.

Both activities will be held at the William V. Haskell Community Center.  The fee is $1 per person per night for basketball and $6 for archery.  Participants must be at least 18 years of age and out of high school to participate in basketball.
