"Recreation - A Lifetime Adventure" William V. Haskell |
|
Community Center Project Back in the fall of 2006, the Recreation & Parks Advisory Board and several others began the task of creating a new community center to replace the current beloved yet over 65 year old William V. Haskell Community Center. The Community Center Committee’s vision for a new multi-purpose building includes the ability to run multiple programs simultaneously, offer activities beyond sports for youth, present programming for senior citizens, provide a gathering place for teenagers, become a community hub and host various events such as community meetings, educational meetings, health and wellness programs and after-school programming. “Outside Rendering” “Building on Site” The needs to meet this vision include a large gymnasium with appropriate spectator seating and storage; a senior citizens center for hosting card games, teas and luncheons; a teen center that allows teenagers to do homework, play games, watch television and meet with friends“1st Floor”. It also includes an activities room to provide space for classes such as arts and crafts, drama, dance, aerobics and yoga, as well as a full sized walking track for all. “2nd Floor” The goal is to make a true community center, a gathering place for everyone and a place that addresses the social, educational, and recreational needs of all the residents of Presque Isle and the surrounding areas. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. We welcome new ideas and suggestions. Our telephone number and fax is 764-2545. The indoor pool may also be contacted at 764-2564.
